Notes | W. Smith 1896: One of the oldest wayside inns in the borough located on the side of an ancient Roman road with the first building on the site in the 18th Century. The last licensee of the old building was Mary Graham. Current building built in 1904 with modernisation in the late 20th Century. The pub closed in early 2017 and premises were unoccupied until November 2017 when it was reopened as a Family Entertainment Centre. October 2023 the building was not open. In June 2025 there was a public announcement that planning permission had been submitted to retain the building and convert internally for residential use. |
