Brewery owner 1970 – BYB. 9 April 2023 Whatpub .com posted on its website that the pub is permanently closed and its future is uncertain. 2 December 2023 the Yorkshire post printed an article "The Sportsman Inn was closed in March after being put up for sale by owners Admiral Taverns despite objections from the then-owners and regular punters. Leeds City Council has now approved an application from the friends of the Sportsman Inn to turn the pub into an assett of Community Valiue (ACV). Former manager, David Holmes, said that this ensures that for the next six years the building must remain an asset to the community." 21 July 2025 Leeds Live published an article "David Holmes, 33, along with an old pub regular Steve Hitchcock, have had their £275,00 (plus VAT) bid accepted on the Sportsman Inn in Hunger Hill, Morley. The pub has been closed since March 2023." Apri 2026 the pub will reopen on 18 April 2026. |
